30 Day Challenge:Day 25

What do you consider the most important event in the past decade?

The most important event in the last decade, is the political change leaders of Arabian and North African Countries. The revolution started of as an Arab Spring, but the series of events were strecthed for a longer period of time, and it  is now called the Arab Uprising. The revolution started of as peaceful protests in Tunisia, and Egypt.(Time Magazine). The protest were meant for the leaders in charge to step down, because some had been in power for over a decade. The protest moved from Egypt, to Morocco, to Jordan, to Libya, to Syria, Yemen, to  Saudi Arabia and Bahrain. In all of the countries mentioned, the dictators, presidents either stepped down or were killed in Battle, except for the king of Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and Syria. The govt of Saudi Arabia, gave out money to keep the populations happy, the government of Bahrain and Syria used their Military  to suppress the revolts which eventually led to the deaths of the protesters.
It is impossible to imagine, that a small protest could light a revolution so big and bad.  In matter of weeks and months governments were changed, government leader were killed, and now the people of the nation have what they wanted. What I do not understand is, why did the people revolt, why did they not revolt in the first few years of the government at that time.
Also, the technological advances of this century, that is the internet and mobile phones are to thank. Without them the word woulf not have spread so easily, and qucikly.
This protest has showed the world what the people are capable of , what technology we posses.
