30 Day challenge: Day 9

13. You’ve just written a 300-page autobiography. Send us page 217. (University of Pennsylvania).

Its year 2030, at an Indian army lab, bio engineering to a wrong turn in developing an anti- virus, the strain infected a majority. The virus hit the borders areas of India and Pakistan. Pakistan takes the opportunity and attacks and invades Indian soil. I had to enroll in army and leave my job. Never before had I thought India would have been short in man power. I was placed in the Mechanized Infantry Regiment. I would have never imagined being in the first few regiments to directly move to the battle front. The day we arrived I was so pumped up, excited yet scared. I had never killed man before, I had never dream t about it. The men I was working with, were boys just out of college, they did not even have a chance to do something more productive.
It would have taken us three days to reach the front. I was so impatient, to get in and out. The roads, there were no roads, no signs, just dust and damage done by the Pakistani air force. In the midst of the night, I was woken up by my crew, we had to leave. We were spotted by some Pakistani spy planes, and now we were on the run. There were no lights, I did not have my armor, or head gear on. Shells start flying; one could hear guns and other weaponry being fired at us from a distance. Little did I know that we had already hit the frontier, and now I was stuck in a major gun fight.  I found the nearest tank that was operational, got in. got my gear together. The midst of my fear, I had forgotten how to maneuver a tank. I got out, and tried jumping,, but was shot in the process. I woke up and hit by head, I was sleeping in the tank, so I thought. Apparently that was a dream in a dream, my men and I were sleeping in a suite , at the closest hotel on the frontier.
